Meetin' & Greetin'
We've scheduled a Town Meeting for Tuesday, July 28 at 7 p.m. in the Community Room. The Agenda includes acceptance of four conservation easements and two sightline dedications, as well as a resolution authorizing me to apply for and administer a one-time Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) for $9100.00. This grant comes from stimulus funds for public safety. The grant opportunity came up in June with an application deadline of July 8, and a decision date of August 1. After considering options for using the one-time grant, we decided on the concept of purchasing "911" address signs for resident use throughout Town. These have proven successful nationwide in helping emergency personnel to quickly locate addresses, especially in rural areas where houses are sometimes far back from the road and quite often not directly behind their mailboxes. This use helps fulfill a grant factor that the funds benefit as many citizens as possible.
Authorization of the resolution is necessary for the Town to use the funds.

Fun, fun, fun...
Tomorrow night's the St. Augustine Cruise 2009 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Take a trip into yesteryear and remember those by-gone days of big cars and big engines. I remember fondly my own youth, which included a '62 Impala SS, as well as a VW bus. In addition to the vehicles, there will be a DJ, Raffles, 50/50 and Moonbounce. The kitchen will be open.
Tuesday we'll also hold our regular Selectmen's meeting at 7 p.m. in the Community Room. We'll be discussing items to go to a Town Meeting and a Justice Grant application. Also, welcome back to our recently-vacationing Selectmen Lee Wrigley and Chris Johnson. It's been lonely without you...
